The EAAE Annual Conference 2020 entitled New Dimensions will take place in Prague

The European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE) selected the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague at its November meeting of the steering committee as the organizer of the EAAE Annual Conference. The event. Will take place in Prague from 26. – 29.08.2020.

The conference will focus on the reflection of increasing the scale of the interplay of disciplines in practice and the education of architects, urban planners and landscape architects. Dean of the Faculty of Architecture CTU prof. Ing. arch. Ladislav Lábus, hon. FAIA says to the topic: “We are on the threshold of a new dimension of our profession, where the scale of our interventions and environmental impacts is increasing and it is necessary to look at our work and education more comprehensively, in terms of intertwining disciplines.”

Approximately 150 guests from European schools providing education in the field of architecture will come to Prague in August 2020 to discuss the following key topics:

  • Role of the architect 
    How do the new dimensions of our profession – increasing scale and overlapping disciplines – impact our understanding of the role of the architect in society and in the design process? 
  • Universality of architectural education 
    How can we safeguard the principle of universality of architectural education in the context of the increasing complexity of our profession? 
  • Overlapping disciplines 
    How should architectural education prepare students for the new dimensions of our profession in the environment of increasing scale and overlapping disciplines? 

We look forward to offering you a personal welcome in Prague. In addition to the specialized program, we also planned tours of Prague with expert commentary and a day trip to Brno. The day trip consists of a visit to Villa Tugendhat and the renowned Sonberk winery, which combines excellent architecture with great wine.
